Meet the newest Patterson!

This weekend we were able to meet Miss Lyla Nicole Patterson! She is just the sweetest little girl. It is so different having a little girl in the family. She's definitely helping calm things down, even just a little bit. We just love this little girl!

Whenever I workout, I listen to General Conference talks. I listen to them a few times so I can focus on the message in each talk and how it applies to me. I am currently listening to the talks from the October 2010 General Conference. I can see that these men were aware of the way the world was going before it happened. Earlier this week I was listening to the talk given by Bishop Richard C. Edgley . It is powerful and I wanted to share part of it. "When the disciples asked Jesus why they could not cast a devil out as they had just witnessed the Savior do, Jesus answered, 'If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove' ( Matthew 17:20 ). I have never witnessed the removal of an actual mountain. But because of faith I have seen a mountain of doubt and despair removed and replaced with hope and optimism. Family

I am grateful that family love knows no distance. While this is currently the farthest I lived from my family, I have never felt closer to them. This summer was a pretty crazy one for us. We were on an emotional rollercoaster. When we were at our lowest point, there was nothing we could do on our own that could bring us out of it. We tried so hard and a dark cloud just hung over us. My family had already been apprised of what was going on and were praying for us. They kicked it up a notch and held a fast for us. That morning was the first time in three weeks that I woke up and was not weighed down by what was going on. Amy Rosella shared this quote in our group text after shared how much better we were both doing. Source Sure, fasting and praying hasn't changed what's going on, but it did bring peace that we are on the right track. It is such a blessing that I can still rely on my family even though we are no where near each other.

Quiet

I know I've been pretty quiet here for the past month or so, but some crazy things happened this month and it took awhile to wrap my head around them. Jonathan was doing really well with his job at IBM and suddenly found out that they weren't able to approve the funding for his contract to continue past the 31st of January. We were stunned and unsure what was going to happen next. Jonathan quickly got his resume posted and called a few headhunters that had called him after he started working with IBM. He had a job interview the same week for an android developing job. It was kind of a weird job because they would train him and then find contracts for him for the next two years. We would be nomadic and so he kept looking while keeping this as our plan B if nothing else turned up. I snuck a photo of him during his interview.
