After we checked out of our hotel, we did a bit more sightseeing in Amsterdam before our train. The hotel was nice enough to hold onto our luggage so we didn't have to drag it all with us.
The view from my mom's room. |
Our morning started at the Van Loon Museum. It is one of the many row houses along a canal. Some of the family still lives in the house, but just the upper rooms that you can't tour.
The smoking room. As Chris pointed out, the original man cave. |
My favorite room was the garden room. |
The coach house. |
After touring the Van Loon Museum, we took a boat tour.
Proof, I really was in Amsterdam. |
After the canal ride, we headed to the train station to make our way to Brugge.
We switched trains in Antwerp. Our train stopped on the bottom floor of the station and we had to make our way to the top floor of the station. The building is breathtaking! I wanted to take so many pictures, but we didn't have much time before our train got to the station.
We had one more change of trains and then we were in Brugge. While we were waiting for our bus, I saw a set of missionaries at an different bus stop. It was so exciting! We took the bus to the city center and walked the rest of the way to our Airbnb. After we dropped off our luggage, we headed out for dinner.
As we were waiting for our food, the weather turned on us. It started sprinkling, but then it started pouring down. None of us were ready for the rain, so Chris ran down to a store he would shop at as a missionary in Brugge and bought some umbrellas for us.
We went for a small tour around the city, but the rain was unrelenting.
Chris took us back to our place and went out to get us some Belgian waffles. They were delicious! While we were waiting for him to come back, Annie and I watched the Voice Belgium. It was about 50/50 of American songs and European songs. After a long day, it was nice to have an early evening to prepare for our first full day in Brugge.
That was day number 4.
