Day Five: Brugge

Our day in Brugge started with a morning walk to the city center with Chris and Annie.

I was very tempted to buy some fresh flowers in the market.
After our walk and getting a few things from the store, we all needed to laundry. While the machine was going, I went for a walk around the neighborhood taking lots and lots of pictures.

I really like the Trogdor benches.

On our way back to our place to drop off our clean clothes, we stopped off at the Jeruzalemkerk or Jerusalem Chapel. It was built in 1400s and was inspired by the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

After touring the chapel, we dropped off our clean clothes and made our way back toward the city center.

Along the way, we visited one of Chris's favorite churches, Sint-Walburgakerk or St. Walburga's Church.

I love the design of the floor.

Once we got into the city center, we did some window shopping and had lunch.

I was very tempted to get chocolate tools for Jonathan.

After lunch, Andy and Amy rejoined us after their adventures in Paris. We went to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk or the Church of Our Lady. A significant portion is being renovated, but we were still able to see Michelangelo's Madonna and Child.

The spire of the Church of Our Lady.
We walked to Begijnhof where nuns and lay religious women still live today. It was beautiful with the tulips in bloom.

After I took this picture the nun glared at me.
It started to drizzle and so we took a canal ride since there wasn't a line.

We did some more wandering through Brugge.

After the slowest dinner, we made our way to our place.

On our way back, Chris showed us where his apartment was as a missionary.

Mom and I sat on a bench in front of the building we were staying in enjoying the peaceful evening.

And that was day 5.
