Clean Water

I am incredibly grateful for the clean drinking water that comes out of our tap on demand. I feel it more than usual because we were under water boil restrictions for just under a week. We could still use water, but we had to boil it because there was a lot of flooding in the area and so there was 100x more silt and other solids in our source water than usual. The water treatment plants couldn't clean enough water fast enough to keep up with demand leading to higher levels of bacterial in the water. The first few days were fine, but the longer it continued the harder it was. There was contradicting advice from the city and doctors. We erred on the side of caution and followed the doctors. We used hand sanitizer after washing our hands along with taking quick showers and not washing our faces with water straight from the tap.

Like most things, you don't realize how blessed you are until it is gone. When the ban was lifted on Sunday, we celebrated by doing laundry and the dishes! It was a great test run for how to get around using tap water, but I am so grateful it is done.
