Independence Day

We started out the day with preparations for another water balloon fight. This time we had around 600 balloons. The kids ran around and tried to grab as many balloons to play with before we were ready.

The most important thing we did before the fight was for everyone to take a nap.

Andy was snoring so loud I'm surprised Ty could sleep through it!

After naps, we were all ready to play!

We had a great outdoor dinner.

Chris was in charge of the grill.

Two cute brothers and their little sisters!
As the sun started to set, we made our way toward the river to watch the fireworks show. According to the radio, it is the 2nd largest 4th of July fireworks show in the country.

Clara helped Jonathan set up the camera.

Waiting for the show to start!
Jonathan took a few pictures of the fireworks and then realized he should just take video of it. Something really unique about this firework show is that there is music and patriotic quotes that go along with it playing on the radio. The show was 30 minutes long and was simply amazing. Jonathan said that we will be coming up to Idaho Falls every year for the 4th!

It may look like this is part of the finale, but we were only a few minutes into the show!
I am so grateful to live in this country. There are plenty of things that are wrong with it, but the foundation it was built upon is good. I am grateful to be in a land with so much freedom and am grateful that there are still men and women that are willing to fight to preserve those freedoms. I love that I was able to spend this Independence Day with so much of my family.
